Spirit Flyer Leather began because I enjoy creating custom leather items for their beauty and utility. I started working with leather as a teenager, beginning with 4-H projects. .I love the feel, the smell, the durability, the beauty and the amazing versatility of leather. I'm continually amazed at the variety of beautiful art that can be made with the medium of leather. I'm pushing to learn more advanced techniques and being inspired as I learn.
From fine art to plain utility, leather can be used in many objects. I've just touched the surface of what can be done. Because of this versatility, I do many unique custom items. This allows me to create a beautiful leather piece just made for you.

As you can see by the picture, creating custom leather items is just one of the ways that I make people's hearts sing. My wife and I entertain at various functions with our musical duo called Singin-n-Swingin. We provide fun dancing and singing music in various old time styles, big band, swing, western swing, old movie classics, polka, waltz and early rock and roll. Judy plays drums and sings and I play accordion and sing. We project the words up on a large screen so that people can sing along with us. In addition to the creative outlets of making beautiful leather items and entertaining, I enjoy making custom recumbent bikes. This business, Spirit Flyer Recumbents, grew out of my love of this style of bike riding that I discovered over ten years ago. I found a heads up view of the world around me and I now have a body position that feels good when riding. After building these bikes for myself and family, I realized that I could bring that same great experience to others as well.

I started powder coating in order to put better finishes on my bikes. It has grown into doing custom projects for others.. . .car parts, tractor parts, and refurbishing bike frames.
